Two years ago, the squeaky shoes tennis Ana Ivanovic took her to the final of the women's branch of the Australia Open against Maria Sharapova.
Less than six months, led to their first title in a Grand Slam tournament at Roland Garros, the number one world ranking and apparently by a golden path that would lead to a permanent place among the top five.
Unfortunately, the performance of the Serb 22 years has worsened since then, and on Thursday the beat Argentina's Gisela Dulko 6-7, 7-5 and 6-4 in the second round of the Australia.
Argentina never had advanced beyond the second round at Melbourne Park in his six previous attempts.
Ivanovic has won only one tournament since his victory in Paris, a small event in 2008 in Linz
tennis betting, not has gotten past the fourth round at any Grand Slam tournaments.
Ivanovic admitted that she felt her brain was hampering his game and think much about the situations when I was playing well, instead of being driven by their instincts.
"I start well and play well, and then, as I have no expectations, just go out and enjoy it (...) So I think I can play well all the time (and) then I get tense and start to make mistakes because I want to play well (consistently), "he told reporters.
"I think when actually left in the wild (my) emotions (...) best game is when," he added.
Dulko Ivanovic broke serve in the final set, but the Serbs found a way to fight on, winning the next three games to put the spectators standing on the Margaret Court Arena encouragingly.
The courageous action, however, ended in the next game when he three match points to Dulko, Argentina missed that, before a fourth opportunity to avoid mistakes and closed the meeting.
"I was very disappointed to fight on in the third set and then a couple of double faults and basically give him three match points, then must fight back," said Ivanovic.
"(But) I feel I have the right things in place and I'm playing, as I said, hitting the ball really well," he said.
