Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova has won the final of the Rome Masters to 1,000 of Australia's Samantha Stosur (6-2 and 6-4) and has won his first tournament of the season.

The rain that fell on the Italian capital has meant that the match was delayed for over three hours, which caused the Australia started the game a bit unbalanced. However, Sharapova played a very solid in the first game and 15 minutes and had a 4-1 in the first round.

It was at that moment when Stosur responded and began to deploy his best game. The 'Aussie' was able to break Sharapova's service, but returned to make many mistakes with his serve and ended up giving up the set 6-2.

Stosur was clear he had to improve considerably if he have a chance to win the final and it showed early in the second round.
