Another favorite of the China Open, the Russian Nikolay Davydenko, seeded fourth, defeated Croat Marin Cilic with a double 7-5.

The top seed of the China Open, Serbian Novak Djokovic, qualified for the quarterfinals by the absence of his rival, the American Mardy Fish, while Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki is ranked the victory of world number one ranking after beat Italy's Sara Errani.

Djokovic moved into the next round without playing because Mardy Fish, injured his left ankle, could not play the game.

The Serb played on Tuesday a first-round match that also earned him a lot of effort, as his opponent, Chinese Mao-Xin Gong, ranked 356 in the ATP world rankings and won in one hour and ten minutes by 6-1 6-3.

Zvoraneva not fail

The second-seeded Russian Vera Zvoraneva, also spent the quarter-finals after winning 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 to compatriot Maria Kirilenko.

In the next phase, Zvoraneva will face Italian Francesca Schiavone, fifth seed, who eliminated Vera Dushevina of Russia 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Shahar Peer of Israel agreed to the quarterfinals by winning without difficulty to the Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru 6-1, 6-2.

In that round will face Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky, who beat Russian Elena Vesnina 6-2, 6-3.
