Ivanovic lost to Switzerland's Patty Schnyder 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2. The Spanish María José Martínez ran the same fate as Serbia's, but with Israel's Shahar Peer 6-4, 6-1.

Among other results of the first round, overcame that instance, the Italian Flavia Pennetta, seeded 11, before the Australian Jelena Dokic 6-2, 6-2 and Estonian Kaia Kanepi, planted 12 to beat Australia's Jelena Dokic for 6 - 2, 6-2.

The Dubai tournament is played on hard surface and distributed 2.050 million dollars in prize money and ranking points for the WTA.
